Caroline at World Youth - Qualification Round

North's Caroline Ehrhardt (Espanola, ON) competed today at the 6th IAAF World Youth Track and Field Championships in Suditrol, Italy.

Unfortunatey, Caroline's best jump of 12.48m was not good enough to qualify for the final on Friday (top 12 in qualification move onto the final). Caroline will place 16th overall out of field of 35 of the best triple jumpers aged 17 and under in the world.

Next up for Caroline is the Canadian Junior Championships, being held from July 17th to 19th in Charlottetown, PEI. Caroline will compete in both the triple jump and long jump.

Caroline at IAAF World Youth Track and Field Championships

Track North's Caroline Ehrhardt will compete for Canada this Wednesday (July 8th) at the 6th IAAF World Youth Track and Field Championships in Sudtirol, Italy.

Caroline will be competing in her speciality, the triple jump, starting with the qualification round commencing at 5:40pm (Sudtirol time) on Wednesday.  The top 12 jumpers from the qualifying round will move onto the final, being contested on Friday, July 10th at 4:40pm.

Caroline recently set a new Canadian Interscholastic Record Holder on route to winning gold at the OFSAA championships in June with a jump of 12.76m.  Two weeks ago, she won a silver medal at the Canadian Senior Championships, placing behind Olympian, Tabia Charles.

Ehrhardt, a 17-year old student who attends Espanola High School, also placed 10th in the long jump with a 5.76 meter jump.

Ben Charbonneau of Track North overcame a strained hip muscle to place 6th in the javelin with a throw of 58.52 metres.
