Devon in the 50k!!!

Devon Kershaw - 5TH !!!!!!! IN THE 50KM MASS START XC SKI.

After two hours of skiing, Devon finished only 1.6 seconds from gold and only .6 seconds from the podium...and as befitting one of the best athletes in the world... disappointed he didn't come in first!

Best finish ever for a Canadian!!!

WOW!

AMAZING, DEVON!!

Two Gold Medalists!

I've been away at the OUA Championships so missed sending an Olympic update. You probably all know by now, but congratulations to alumni, Rebecca Johnston, who is now an OLYMPIC CHAMPION! Rebecca's hockey team beat the Americans 2-0 to win the Olympic Gold on Friday night.

Continuing the Gold Medal theme, Alannah MacLean struck gold at the OFSAA cross-country skiing championships last weekend! Alannah topped 146 other racers to win the senior girls' race at the Midland Ski Club.

Emily Marcolini also had an excellent result, placing 12th in the Junior Girls race.

Way to go, everyone!!

OUA Championships Results

OUA Indoor Track and Field Championships
York University, 2/26-2/27, 2010.

Two Laurentian athletes competed at the OUA indoor track and field championships at York University this weekend.
Emma Tallman achieved two top-ten finishes and two personals bests. Tallman placed 8th in the 1000m with a time of 2:54.63,  a 2.6 second personal best. She also placed 9th in the 600m with a 135.93, a personal best by 1.4 seconds.

Maggie Robins placed 15th in the 1000m with a time of 3:12.39.

"Emma definitely peaked at the right time, and she ran an excellent tactical race," said head coach, Dick Moss. " She was very aggressive and made a big jump in her personal-best times. At this point, she ranks 13th in the CIS in the 1000m. The best thing is, she's still very young and should be a real factor at the national level over the next three years."

Olympic Update

Devon's 4 x 10km relay team placed 7th. Devon said he still felt pooped from the team pursuit earlier in the week. No wonder!! Their placing at 7th was still a best placing for a Canadian squad in the event!

Rebecca Johnston and her women's hockey team play in the gold medal game tonight. Tune in at 6:30 PM!!

Way to go Rebecca and Devon!

Congrats to Rebecca Johnston, whose Olympic hockey squad beat the Finns in the semi-finals to advance to the finals on Thursday. Rebecca got an assist in the game.

Kershaw - 4th at the Olympics!!

Congratulations to Devon Kershaw who had an AMAZING race in the team sprint at the Olympics today (2 skiers, doing 3 laps each parlauff-relay-style).

Devon was a beast, giving his partner the lead in both semi-finals and finals. It was the best-ever finish for Canada in an event that has always been dominated by European countries.

HoooHooo!!
